                                                                             My Life Since 1982:

"In high school I loved to read.  I remember the new librarian that was hired our Senior year at Marsh Valley, Miss
Kouba.  She was so nice, pretty, and fun!  In April of 1982, I got my first real job at the Pocatello Public Library.  I
remember thinking in high school that maybe I would like to be a high school librarian.  Miss Kouba made the job
seem fun and rewarding.  I worked at the Pocatello Public Library part time for 7 years while going to high school
and then in college at I.S.U.  I attended Idaho State Vo-Tech in the fall of 1982 and received a certificate to work
as a Medical Secretary, but I knew I wanted to become a high school librarian.  I re-enrolled at I.S.U. in the fall of
1983 and went to school while working at the library.  I met my husband to be during my Freshman year at I.S.U.
He also wanted to become a high school teacher and coach.  He played on the I.S.U. football team, so I went to
all his games which was fun!  We married in 1985!  We had our daughter Jennifer in 1988 before Thomas
graduated in May of 1988.  We moved to Malta, Idaho for his first teaching and coaching jobs.  I worked part time
at the high school as a library aide since I hadn't graduated from I.S.U.  Our son was born in 1989.  We lived
there two years and then moved to Melba, Idaho.  We lived there and Tom taught and coached at the high school
for five years.  We then moved to Payette, Idaho.  When we moved to Payette, I decided to go to Boise State to
finish my degree in Education.  I drove from Payette to Boise four days a week for two and half years and
graduated from B.S.U. in 1998.  I got my first teaching job at Parma High School as their librarian.  I taught there
for three years and loved it!  Thomas got offered a job as the head football coach at a high school in Lakeview,
Oregon in 2001, so we moved again.  I worked as a secretary at the district office since there were no openings
for me.  In  2003 Lakeview High School had severe budget cuts ($2.5 million dollars)!  We looked for teaching
jobs elsewhere in case Tom got cut.  We found two openings for both of us at the same high school in Homedale
High School!  They needed a high school librarian, and a head football coach and teacher.  We applied
and were both hired.  We decided to take the jobs even though Tom didn't get cut.  We missed Idaho and I
missed being a high school librarian!  We live in Caldwell, Idaho and drive 15 minutes to Homedale.  We have
been working at Homedale High School since 2003.  I am the Librarian, Junior & Senior class advisor, Honor
Society Advisor, and co-yearbook advisor.  I stepped down from doing the yearbook this May so I wont be
quite so busy.  I love my job and working with high school students every day.  We are the only married couple
on staff.  I sometimes think of Mr. and Mrs. Treasure from Marsh Valley and how much they did for our school.
You take on so many roles at a small school.  I have also been the filmer for the varsity football team for the past
four years.  My husband stepped down this year from being the head football coach so I am also stepping down
as the filmer.  It will be nice to watch my son's senior year of football without having to film.  He recently received
a full-ride football scholarship to the University of Washington!  He is going to be a Senior this fall and will sign
his letter of intent in February.  Our daughter Jennifer is getting married July 14th, 2007. "
