Ryen's achievements include "Outstanding Chemistry student of 1981-82," Honor
Society, member of the bookstore staff, and student at ISU.
Ryen's favorites include ham, ice cream, round steak, Air Supply, Henry Mancini,
Bob Hope Shows, and Star Wars series.  He also enjoys cruising and looking at
pretty girls.  He dislikes KWIK, 95 Alive and country music.
His goals after graduation include keeping up with his college courses, getting a
degree in business at ISU, and later going to U of I and earning a degree in law, and
eventually becoming an attorney.
Ryen's message is, "Being a Senior, I can look back on my school years and not
feel too badly about my achievements; but I can also look back on the school years
of some of the other Seniors and see that, in my eyes, they have almost utterly
wasted themselves and part of me at the same time.  I say to you, take advantage of
the facilities that are provided for your education first, then if you have time left over,
take advantages of the facilities provided for sports.  Round yourself out a little; a
square person will not fit into a round society.  A word of caution, work at the work
before you play at the play, and for heavens sake, don't play at the work.  If you can
take care of your educational obligations and still have time for sports and the like,
great!  Do it!  But if you don't have time for both, take the education first; it is the
most important; otherwise, you just hurt yourself and those who associate with you
and that are disturbed in your presence.  Please keep in mind that I am not knocking
sports; I am just saying that they aren't as important to a person as his classes are,
or at least they shouldn't be.  In the meantime, don't tear the school down and have a
lot of fun, for you only do it once."
I, Ryen, being of sound mind, do hereby will to all the future students of Marsh Valley High School the desire, the
motivation, the incentive, the capacity, and the initiative needed to take full advantage of the educational facilities
that are provided for them and their betterment.
