Margene, aka Shorty, Midget, and Gimpy, has served as a cheerleader and has
been active in Pep Club, Art Club, Journalism, track, drama and choir. She claims
her most embarrassing moment was when she had to try out for cheerleader on
crutches!
Margene enjoys gymnastics, art, camping, photography, hiking, turkey, avacados
and stuffing. She dislikes people who have no enthusiasm for life and who are
constantly complaining.
She plans to attend college and have some kind of career in Journalism. She
hopes to someday marry and have a family.
Margene's message is, "Get involved in everything and keep a smile on your face!
High school can be fun if you want it to be."
I, Margene, will to all those with a smile and the will to go the extra mile, more than a little latitude and a whole lot of gratitude.

My Life Since 1982:
"I attended ISU for 2 yrs and worked for American Stores as a floor manager. Moved to Utah and attended BYU
from 1987 to 1993. I met Jonathan at BYU during my teaching internship in February, 1990. We were married in
the LDS Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1990. Our first son, Nathan, was born May 12, 1992. I graduated from
BYU as an Art Specialist (k-12) with a minor in Journalism. I taught school at Shelly Elementary, Spanish Fork
and Orem Jr High, Orem UT for 1 year.
My husband began teaching elementary school in 1991. We had our second son, Arthur, August 15, 1994.
Arthur had congestive heart failure at 5 days of age. He had corrective heart surgery (open heart) at 5 months of
age. Arthur was diagnosed with Smith Magenis Syndrom at 24 months of age. This is a rare chromosome
disorder. He has cognitive and mild physical disabilities. We had our third son 14 months after Arthur's birth.
Martin, was born October 14th, 1995. He was born with a undetermined virus in his lungs and spent 21 days on
a jet ventilator. He also had cranial synitosis and had head surgery at 5 months of age. He is now healthy and
very happy. We had our fourth child, Lydia, on February 19, 1999. She is a beautiful little girl. All of these
births were high risk and dangerous for me, so we could not have any more children.
We now live in West Jordan. Jonathan works as a computer lab teacher at Hayden Peak Elementary. I work at
Riverside Elementary as a Literacy teacher. I also volunteer as a regional chair with the Family to Family
Network a support group for families of children with disabilities. It is a grass roots organization with groups all
across the state of Utah.
We live very busy fullfilling lives. Both my husband and I fill callings in our ward/church. I am in the Primary
Presidency and my husband has taught many sunday school, teacher classes, been the executive
secretary and currently is the Weblos leader. My husband and boys have been in several "Liken the Scriptures"
films and are very talented musically and in the preforming arts. I spend my spare time, what there is of it, after
taking care of my home and children, working with the disability community and spreading awareness of the
disability world. I also enjoy scrapbooking and art. We are a very happy and contented family."
