Kathy enjoys pizza, Hungarian chicken, scalloped potatoes and pork chops. Her
favorite entertainers include Journey, Eagles and Foreigner. She enjoys old movies.
Kathy has been involved in varsity basketball for 3 years and has served as team
captain. She has also participated in Letter Club, volleyball, track, drama, band, and
has received numerous 4-H awards. She was also a member of the State judging
team.
Kathy's pet peeves are commercials and when people don't use their turn signals.
Kathy recalls an embarassing moment when she walked around the corner of the
shop and a "certain someone" was using the sidewalk as a bathroom!
Kathy's high school years have been highlighted by participating in basketball and
school plays, being on the state judging team, and going on band tour.
After graduation, Kathy plans to work for a year and then attend college.
Kathy's message to the underclassmen is: "Have the most fun possible, get
involved in many things and don't worry about what people think or say about you."
My Life Since 1982:
"The summer after graduation, I went to Wyoming and worked on a Dude ranch. Came home and started at ISU.
I worked at Lava in the summers of 83,84, and 85 and in the winter I attended school and worked at Reed Gym. I
met my husband while attending ISU. We were married in May of 1986 and spent the first five years of our
marriage living in Oklahoma. (This is another long story I will spare you from.) Our first child Irene was born in
March of 1987 and I graduated college in May of 1988 while we were in Oklahoma. I started teaching in January
of 1989 and our second daughter Camille was born in November of 1989. We left Oklahoma in the fall of 1990 to
move to American Samoa to help my husband's family. We arrived in Samoa in March of 1991 and I gave birth to
our third child Keith in September of 1991. I started teaching again a year later and had our fourth child Wyatt in
May of 1993. At this time my husband decided to go back to school. In the fall of 1996 Whan started teaching
and coaching football while also taking classes. We had our last child, Faith, in December of 1996. In May of
2000 my husband Whan passed very suddenly to an infection called cellulitis. He died three weeks before our
14th wedding anniversary. I stayed in Samoa for another year and then moved my five children back to Idaho
July of 2001. I was able to buy the home next to my parents and have been there since. I now teach school at
the middle school. Yes, it is kind of strange to be teaching where I went to school. My oldest is in college at ISU,
my next three will be in high school and my youngest will start 5th grade this fall. Life does have some strange
twists to it.
Hope everyone is doing well, I can't believe it has been 25 years!"
